What is happening

The Kaipātiki Local Board wants to upgrade the Linley Reserve playground at 5 Linley Place in Hillcrest.

This includes:

  • improved play options for zero to seven-year-olds
  • improved facilities like picnic areas and playground equipment for everyone to enjoy.

The proposed design

You can download the proposed design for the Linley Reserve playground [pdf 2,247KB].

To help us design a proposed plan for the upgraded playground, we used:

  • feedback from a public consultation in March 2022 (in the form of a letter sent to 350 local residents)
  • recent feedback from Kaipātiki Local Board.

The feedback told us that the most popular play activities at the reserve are climbing, swinging and sliding.

The proposed design for Linley Reserve includes:

  • accessible play equipment with 'wetpour' rubber surfacing (weather-resistant and soft)
  • junior play space with recycled bark 'cushion fall' surface (soft wood chip used below play areas)
  • nature play area with bark cushion fall
  • new footpath
  • picnic area
  • monkey bars
  • rotating play equipment with bark cushion fall.
